In wet rotor pumps, the rotor directly runs inside the pumped medium. Rotor and stator are separated only by a so called rotor can tube.
The rotor can must fulfill different requirements in order to allow stable and efficient service of the pump. The separating can has to carry the load from inside pressure, provide sufficient chemical stability and diffusion resistance and at the same time remain as thin walled as possible to reduce eddy current losses to a minimum.
Wound thermoplastic composites can offer all these features and hereby sets new standards in efficiency of canned rotor pumps.
