Laser-assisted tape winding or tape placement is a robot-based process (AFP: Automated Fiber Placement) in which thermoplastic tapes are deposited on a core or table and fully welded together in a single process step (in-situ consolidation). The layer-by-layer construction of the component allows adjustment of its mechanical properties by adapting the fiber orientation.
